I'm Afraid I Will Fail!

"I'm Afraid I will Fail!"

I was talking with a colleague about some projects I have worked on that came to a halt. All because of something really dumb. I was afraid I was going to fail at making something great. It got me thinking, "If I don't make this project because i'm afraid it will not look as good as I would like it to be, then it will never get made", "But if I do make it and it doesn't look that great, then won't I be missing out on the point of putting my work out there?".

Those are two good questions but I realized there is also another point of view to be considered.. and that is the viewers point of view. I'm making these projects for others to see and enjoy. They're not just for myself. Even if I am totally satisfied with the results and think that what I have produced is the best piece of work i have ever made, it may not look that great to someone else. Vice versa, if I think what I have made isn't that great, it could still look like a masterpiece to others.

Taking that into consideration plus the timespan of life wasted not doing anything and just thinking about it.. the projects just needs to be done so I can move on to the next big thing that may or may not be the best thing ever. Agreed?

If you're putting any projects to a halt like I had been just because you may not feel it'll be great - I hope my collected thoughts will help you get passed that feeling. Your time is precious. Put it to use!

History is full of masterpieces (canvas to music) that many artist did not completely like but it was the audience that embraced each one of those masterpieces and held them to something even beyond what the original artist indented. So create away, as long as you put your @$$ into the project then you will never fail.
